FydeOS23 fydroid Google Play Store Problem!

Description: Hello everyone, I recently updated my device to FydeOS v23.0. While the Android subsystem (fyDroid) boots and is running, Google Play Services and the Google Play Store are completely non-functional.
To resolve this, I attempted to use the GApps configurator to reinstall or repair GApps, but the app blocks me with an error message stating: “Unsupported Android version.” My FydeOS for You subscription is active. I have attached screenshots of my system info and the error. Any help to get GApps running again on v23 would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like you’re using an older version of the GApps app. Please uninstall it, then reinstall the latest version from the store. Use the third option to refresh GMS and it would work again. Please note to disable root rile system verification before proceed.

Hi again, Carrie!

Thanks again for the help getting me logged in. However, as I’ve been using the new v23 update, I’ve noticed a few quirks with the new fyDroid subsystem and wanted to report them to see if there are any known workarounds:

  1. App Compatibility: The new fyDroid subsystem seems quite a bit less compatible compared to the older Android 11 version. Many Google Apps are currently showing as unavailable for me in the Play Store.
  2. Disappearing Windows: I’m experiencing a strange window management bug. Android app windows (like the Google Play Store and Android Settings) sometimes completely disappear from the screen. Their icons are still active in the taskbar (shelf), but clicking them doesn’t bring the window back up or maximize it. It feels a bit like when a window gets lost off-screen. Right now, the only way I can get the Play Store window to actually display on my screen again is by doing a full reboot of my device.
  3. Broken Web Links in Apps: When an Android app tries to open a web link (for example, to open a browser window for a login screen), nothing happens at all. fyDroid fails to launch the browser or pass the link to Chromium. I can’t log into certain apps because of this. Is the intent bridge currently broken in this new update?

Are there any tricks or settings I can tweak to fix the vanishing windows and the broken web links?

Thanks again for your fantastic support!

Which apps appear in the Play Store is not determined by compatibility. Google decides what to show based on the detected Android version and device information. This process is a black box to us as well, so we don’t know exactly how Google makes these decisions.

If an app isn’t available in the Play Store, you can install its APK directly. You can download Android APKs from websites such as APKMirror or APKPure.

The last two issues will be fixed in future updates.
