When I first installed FydeOS on my laptop, the Open Gapps was working fine. Later one day my laptop just restarted itself and noticed the PlayStore and the apps installed via PlayStore were gone. I’ve tried reinstalling the Open Gapps multiple times since then, but, every time I try to install it the progress bar gets stuck on 20%. Even now when I am creating this post I am installing the Open Gapps and it’s still stuck on 20% for the past 6-7 minutes and when I open the log all I see is this
Open Gapps Installer Doesn’t Work Properly.
I have this issue. The application call Configure Open Gapps is the one that does not work properly. It takes several minutes to display the option at the right bottom to install. When finally shows up the NEXT RED ICON ans click it, it does not go NEXT, stays there forever and ever. There is other option to install OPEN GAPPS through other installer? Or there is other version of Configure Opengapps? A promt command on Crosh to update from zip file?
This has been years later and this post seems to have slowed it down. If other people are like me trying to run fides OS, after you do the steps of:
The following guide or recipe requires shell access “developer mode” is assumed to be disabled in settings.
In FydeOS, if you need to modify system files or perform custom operations, you must first disable root file system verification. This step is taken for security reasons, aimed at preventing system stability and security issues that could arise from unauthorized modifications. Here are the detailed instructions:
Press Control + Alt + T on your FydeOS desktop to open the terminal.
Type shell and hit Enter to access the shell environment.
Enter “sudo -i” to get root permissions.
Execute " /usr/sbin/crossystem_mode-switch.sh disable-rootfs-verification" to turn off root file system verification.
Reboot your device.
My open gapps install seem like it froze on 20%. I opened up the diagnostics section and verified that the computer was in fact actually at or near 3% before I started and once I started open gapps I could indeed see the processor running in the teens which let me know that it was doing stuff. I just had to be patient and wait. Eventually it moves on.
Interestingly, once I rebooted I opened up the diagnostics section again and watched as the CPU stayed in the '90s for usage for quite some time. While I’m writing this post, the CPU is slowly coming down into single digits.
