I decided to give FydeOS another try. It did okay back then, now with FydeOS 18, things seem better. I had trouble with getting Linux Beta working in earlier versions, this was a breeze. Steps to getting Google Play Store is none really now. Earlier versions you had to take extra steps if getting it installed, something about play protect. Anyway just a few clicks now and good to go.
