Please describe the problem you’ve encountered in detail:

  • Description:
    I got a bluetooth based keyboard, Model K17 Pro for my Surface Pro 8. No mouse pointer and no mouse clicks, just scrolling.
    Under Settings is no entry for touch pad just keyboard. and yes I did search and enabled larger mouse point etc.

:laptop:System & Device Information

  • Hardware & System Configuration: Surface Pro 8

    • Processor: Intel 5 11th gen
    • Graphics Card(Please specify if there’s a discrete graphics card): Intel
    • RAM: 8GB
    • FydeOS Version: 18.1

  • Relevant System Logs:

    • Open the Chromium browser and enter /var/log/messages to retrieve logs.

Sorry, we can only guarantee that the original keyboard will work since we tested it on them, but we can’t guarantee that other brands of peripherals will work properly.

ok well than I have to see if there is any way to get the touch panel to work fully, aka being able to see the mouse pointer and being able to use the left and right click.

My surface Pro 7+ is the same, and here is the fix.
if clicking the touchpad works that is.
First find the USBID then mount OS as RW

Replace the MatchUSBID line if different.

then create this file.

sudo tee /etc/gesture/99-bluetooth-cover.conf >/dev/null <<'EOF'
Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Bluetooth cover palm threshold"
    MatchIsTouchpad "on"
    MatchProduct "Bluetooth Keyboard Touchpad"

reboot and profit.

At least on my Bluetooth cover it read touches as palm pressure and treated as palm rejection
1000 works as well, but the full clicks are required, 800 allows for touch clicks.
