I like both ChromeOS and FydeOS as an OS. Unfortunately I don’t really like using either Chrome (used by ChromeOS) or Chromium (used by FydeOS) as my primary browser as they both lack certain features that I like to have. However there are other Chromium-based browsers that I do like.
I would therefore like to suggest that you consider supporting some other Chromium-based browsers as the browser within FydeOS. My specific preference would be to have Brave as an option, but there are a number of other popular Chromium-based browsers you might want to consider.
I don’t know how challenging it would be to support other Chromium-based browsers, but as they all have a Chromium foundation/base I am suspecting it would be possible. It would also be a significant differentiator from ChromeOS, which I suspect would never support anything other than Chrome as the browser.
If it isn’t possible to offer choice for the browser I have another suggestion which is to provide a way to set a browser within the Android and/or Linux subsystem as the default browser for handling links on a system wide basis. Whilst I can currently install my preferred browser within the Linux subsystem as far as I can tell there is no way to make it the default browser for handling links located outside the Linux subsystem. Adding support for this would be another way you could differentiate from ChromeOS.
