Please describe the problem you’ve encountered in detail:

  • Description:

I have a Surface Go with 8GB ram and 128GB storage
I have installed FydeOS for you v18.1 on a 40GB partition, the rest is used by Windows 11
FydeOS is working fine, as is rEFind to dual boot

I click to enable developer mode but when I reboot , developer mode is again disabled

I have tried with a google account, a FydeOS account and a local account. I have reinstalled Fydeos. I tried using Balena Etcher and also Rufus. None of this allowed developer mode to be enabled

I have looked online and in the forum here but can find no solution

My surface go’s bios says it is running UEFI

I just want to be able to run some android games from the Playstore for my little grandson to play on

What am I doing wrong, or what can I try next to make it work?

I can post the huge log file it that would help

Thanks for any advice

Lots of people use surface go and developer mode always works. Do you have some special settings in BIOS or in windows to prevent fydeos to modify the efi partition?

My bios settings:

I’ve no idea if Windows is causing any problems

It doesn’t show rEFind in boot order setting but it is enabled

disable secure boot first

Secure boot is already disabled. I did that before installing FydeOS

I guess some setting in windows prevent fydeos to modify the efi partition since it share the efi partition with windows.

I think in that case I’ll try reinstalling as a single OS and overwrite Windows. Windows is pretty laggy on the surface anyway.
Thanks for your input, I’ll let you know if it works

Well I tried just installing FydeOS on top of Windows but the installation failed.
I then used Aomei Disk Partition Assistant on a USB stick to wipe the drive.
After this FydeOS installed no problem.
Developer mode enabled, root verification disabled.
Open GApps configured.
Logged into Play store without any issues
Games downloaded and working!
This OS is really the Bee’s knees
