Windows and Fydeos Dual Boot: Fydeos Continuously Breaking When Used in Dual Boot

Hello everyone,

I have been trying for a long time to set up a system where I can use both Fydeos and Windows on my computer, but I am struggling quite a bit. My laptop has both an SSD and an HDD. When I install Fydeos on the SSD, the disk with Windows installed does not appear in the BIOS boot menu. When I install Windows, the SSD with Fydeos does not appear in the boot menu. When I tried installing Fydeos while removing the HDD and setting up dual boot, I couldn’t select the EFI partition on the SSD, but the installation still proceeded. After removing the USB, Fydeos disappears from the boot menu. Why doesn’t Fydeos create the EFI partition on the disk during installation?

Additionally, I created the EFI partition on the SSD using CMD within Windows and installed Fydeos. Since the Fydeos installation did not format the disk, I formatted it in Windows and completed the installation. Everything worked fine, but when I removed the drive letter for Fydeos in Windows, Fydeos broke again. It took me 40-50 installation attempts to set up this complex system. Initially, during Fydeos installation, I selected the Windows EFI partition for dual boot, which caused Windows to crash, and I couldn’t recover my files, so I had to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch.

Why isn’t this installation process made more user-friendly? The system fails to boot with the slightest intervention, and I am unable to access my data. Currently, I removed the drive letter for Fydeos on Windows so that it wouldn’t show up, but now the system doesn’t boot. Even though I selected the EFI on the SSD during Fydeos installation, I still cannot see the disk with Fydeos in the BIOS boot menu. I think I will have to format the SSD completely again, create the EFI partition with CMD, and start the installation process from scratch.

As long as the Windows disk is not connected, I can use Fydeos without any issues, but I also need to set up Windows as a second system. In my laptop, the SSD is in the main disk slot, and the HDD is in the DVD slot. When using Fydeos, I want to remove the HDD to avoid its noise and use the computer only with the SSD. When using Windows, I will reconnect the HDD to use Windows.

Thank you.

Fydeos/chromeos is not designed for two hard drives since all Chromebooks only have one hard drive. If you have this special situation, you have to figure out how to do it.
