FydeOS vs OpenFyde

Hello folks

Are there any documentation about the difference between FydeOS vs OpenFyde ?

If no, can someone enlighten me with them please ?

Thanks a lot, and happy 2025 !

There are a few key features of FydeOS vs OpenFyde:

  1. Both are built off of Chromium OS the Open Source version of Google Chrome OS
  2. It is hard to break FydeOS (Some closed source code) and OpenFyde (open source code) is open to you to break!
  3. FydeOS offers updates from version to the next, for example v18 to v19; OpenFyde you have to reinstall
  4. FydeOS offers as Google Chrome OS offers Android & Beta Linux support and OpenFyde doesn’t
  5. FydeOS logs in to either your Google Account or FydeOS account; OpenFyde has no account to log in to during setup
  6. FydeOS offers price support for premium devices like the FydeTab Duo and supported MicroSoft Surface devices

Far as I know, no real documentation about the difference of FydeOS vs OpenFyde. Just like FydeOS on my Raspberry Pi 5 SBC and done a lot of research of each. OpenFyde does offer more hardware install than Google ChromeOS Flex. OpenFyde installs on just as many devices FydeOS does. But Google ChromeOS Flex installs on Intel or AMD type computers but not SBC like my Raspberry Pi 5 or 4 and other SBC’s (Single Board Computers).

Hope this helps.

I am wrong, there is some documentation: FydeOS for N100 Review by Explaining Computers
