I’m a bit confused, this OS is marketed as open and hackable but I can’t even root the device. Side loading is working fine but there is no option in the android settings to enable root access.

There’s various topics online and on this form but they all contain outdated information that isn’t relevant to the latest version of the OS. I don’t want to have to use an older version (Fyde OS 12) just to enable root but for a device like this a root level adblock would be perfect.

You can root the main system but android is the subsystem. Fydeos is not an android system.

I get that part but I’m trying to run rooted apks like a system wide adblock.

If I root the main system will the subsystem be able to grant android apps root privileges?

I enabled the no rootfs verification, developer tools and all that I’m just hoping it properly grants privileges to android apps that require root to operate

You can search how to root Android subsystem in chromeos, maybe some solutions.

Thank you, do you know how to set a custom search engine in the browser?

Theres not really a point severing from google services if all the search engines data mine

You can change it in settings. Google how to do it in chromeos if you don’t know how. It’s the same in fydeos.

It was an overly specific set of characters that you need to punch into the url box for some odd reason. I don’t know why they design it like that.
