  • Description: so i just got fydeos on my lenovo thinkpad 5 14alc05, pretty sure it has the mt7921 wifi card. i had ubuntu mate before this and the wifi worked great! tried to dual boot with windows once but the wifi didnt work witch shoudlve been my first red flag. so i discovered fydeos and wanted to use it. i download it and got to the setup and the wifi and its not working  i have done some reaserch and the kernel that my fydeos uses (6.6) does support the mt7921 and has drivers for it. been on a deep rabbit hole trying to install the driver i found on the github page of the linux kernel and nothing… i desperatly need help. i have also talked about this on the discord and no one has gotten to me :sob:

Heaving the same problem on a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 14ABR8 which has similar specs. On linux it uses the mt7921e driver, and if I open a terminal on FydeOS i can see the same driver loaded (using: ‘lsmod’). Im kind of thinking is not the driver, but maybe the UI or tools talking to the driver.

I had it working once on OpenFyde. But just once, and I don’t know what was different.

Please fix this, i really want to give FydeOS a try!

Okey, this is the weirdest thing ever. Because i saw that the linux system is based upon Debian Bookworm, i searched connection problems for my mt7921e within bookworm. I came upon this debian thread.

I cant believe it, but: shutting down my device and removing the power cord and then boot again - without the power plug - a couple of minutes later actually solved my problem! (my mind is totally blown)

I can now use WiFi on my FydeOS!

Last Update: Although WiFi works, it is very slow and with that kind of unusable. Also my touchscreen is not working either. Unfortunately for now Ill won’t be using FydeOS. Maybe version 21 will be better!

um sorry this is kind of dumb but how can i use lsmod? just typing it into the terminal says the command can not be found

It’s okey buddy…,

First set your FydeOS installation in “developer mode”. Next, start a terminal (ctrl+alt+t) and then type: shell

Now you can use lsmod, amongst other familiar linux tools.

(ps: in this shell you can use “sudo -i” to get root access)

I’m - regretfully - pretty much done with FydeOS for now. My new device is a bit grumpy with things. The touchscreen not working is actually a known issue for my device. For those interested, check this thread: Lenovo Forum.

Perhaps I will return this thing, just bought it, already having troubles.

sorry ive tried everything and its still not working. thinking of just buying a wifi card.
