Hello. Is my first post here, so, sorry if I’m taking any mistakes.

Is the first time I’m trying to use FydeOS, manily to ‘save’ one of my notebooks. I readed several tutorials and watch a lot of videos to know more about this OS, but couldn’t find an answer for my specific problem.

The OS itself is installed without any problems, activating Android is easy, updating apps, Google Play Services and everything was also free of problems. The problem is Play Store. As many apps I need don’t appears on Fyde’s store, I have to look in Play Store, but they not appear there when I search for them. This include Chrome, YouTube, many local apps and others.

Then, I looked at library (Store → my photo → Manage Apps and Devices → Manage → Not installed). All apps I have installed on other devices are there, but they have a message telling “This app is unavailable for this device”.

So, I tried many things, like uninstalling Gapps and reinstalling, reinstall FydeOS and even used other FydeOS versions and flavors (v19, Modern, Slim, etc). Also, I’ve tested the manual install of Gapps with the ‘pico’ (v9 and v11) version as stated on the Fyde’s tutorial, but still the same. I’ve tested the ‘super’ and the ‘stock’ versions also, but in this case, the Android subsystem stops working, and a message telling “Play Store stop to work” appears all the time on the screen.

Maybe Chrome is a case apart, because I can see it installed on Android subsystem as a system app, but it is not updated nor appears in apps menu.

I feeling I’m doing something wrong, or maybe skipping an important step or instruction, but I followed all tutorials and videos exactly how they are.

I’m aiming to use v21 Slim, because it seems to runs better on the notebook, but, as I stated, I tried Modern variation also, and the results are always the same: unable to install the apps I need.

Why this is happening? I’m talking about A LOT of apps I need to use daily…

Any help will be welcome. Thanks in advance.

It’s the play store for chromeos, so some apps are not available.

I don’t think so, as the Gapps configurator downloads the official GApps for Android 11 x86_64.

Google will identify the device you are currently using, and FydeOS is recognized as ChromeOS. Therefore, only apps that are compatible with ChromeOS are displayed.

First, thank you for trying to help.

But I think you’re wrong. As I sayed, the Chrome browser is unavailable, as well YouTube. I don’t think these two are incompatible with ChromeOS. Do you think they are?

EDIT: during this weekend, I tested v19 and v21 on other 2 notebooks, and the results was the same. No Chrome, no Youtube, a lot of local apps unavailable…

Because on a Chromebook you don’t need the Android version of Chrome—ChromeOS already comes with the Chrome browser—and you also don’t need the Android version of YouTube, since YouTube is available as a PWA.

This is my Chromebook, and it also doesn’t have Chrome or YouTube.

I can see you have Chrome, besides you say don’t have. At least the icon is there… But don’t have YouTube available. I can use YT on the default FydeOS’s browser? Yes, but I can’t stay without Chrome or my local apps.

So, Fyde is incredible, but isn’t for me.

Thank you again!

It’s the chrome of chromeos, dude. It’s not the android version. I don’t want to say anything bad, but you don’t know anything about chromeos.

You’re right, I don’t know ChromeOS or Chromebooks, I never touched in one of these. Don’t take me bad, maybe the way I posted was wrong…

Thank you for the help. I’ll try Bliss.
