WiFi is still not working - very disappointing. No updates?

I’ve had my Fydetab Duo for a couple of months now, but am still unable to use it because it will not connect to my WiFi router.

This is the same router that has successfully connected with literally hundreds of devices of all shapes, sizes, quality and price. I fail to understand why the Fydetab Duo cannot connect, simply displaying “bad password” which is untrue.

Basically I’d dumped the device in a corner for a month, and was hoping that when I switched it on again yesterday that I’d be able to make it work, but no luck, even after changing some router parameters. I connected it to my phone and checked for a firmware update, and disappointingly, there was nothing.

Is the device still supported and when can expect some proper support?

Sorry about the bad experience. Earlier versions of FydeOS for Fydetab Duo had issues connecting to WPA3 Wi-Fi networks, and this has been fixed in the latest v21-SP1.

If possible, please try USB tethering (network sharing) from an Android phone, then update the system to the newest version. If that’s not possible, you can follow the instructions on the Fydetab Duo Wiki to flash the latest version manually:

And you can download the newest FydeOS system image here:

My Fydetab Duo updated to FydeOS 22 and I am having the same issue with “bad password” when trying to connect to my home wifi. This was not an issue before the update.

Can you share more information why this happens and how this can be fixed?

Could you send feedback in the system? In v22, we upgraded the kernel. During our testing, we did not encounter any Wi-Fi connection issues. However, since there are significant differences compared to previous versions, there may still be some corner cases that were not fully covered.

I was frustrated and installed Arch instead, I do miss having access to Android applications though.

Not sure I will install FydeOS again just to send a bug report. I might.

I was able to connect to the WiFi hotspot on my phone when having issues connecting to my router.

All I can provide right now is that I have an older router (10 years old??)

Before installing Arch, I found a downloadable FydeOS v21 and installed that and did confirm WiFi was working just fine again.

Then, it automatically updated to v22 and I could no longer connect to my router with error “bad password”

Here’s a Reddit post where multiple people are reporting the same thing.

Buy a new router I think it would get resolved.

It is possible that the issue is caused by the router being too old. In this update, we upgraded the Fydetab kernel from the Rockchip vendor kernel 6.1 to the Google ChromiumOS kernel 6.12, which may lead to compatibility issues with older routers.

The new kernel brings improved system stability and better graphics performance.
