Hi FydeOS Team,
I am using FydeOS on a mini PC with the following specifications:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS
- GPU: AMD Radeon 780M (RDNA 3)
- Setup: Multi-boot configuration
- RAM: 64Gb DDR5 5600m/s
The system performance is overall excellent, but I’ve encountered a significant limitation within the Android subsystem: it lacks optimized hardware decoding support for high-quality video content, specifically 4K HEVC (H.265) and AV1.
While external players like VLC (which use their own internal codecs) work perfectly, the internal players of IPTV apps like OTT Navigator struggle to play 4K streams smoothly because they rely on the system’s native Android codecs, which currently seem to fall back to software decoding (CPU) on this AMD architecture.
Since the Ryzen 8845HS is a very powerful chip with a dedicated NPU and a strong GPU, it would be a massive improvement if future updates could include native hardware acceleration for these codecs within the Android container for AMD users. This would make FydeOS the ultimate media center OS for modern mini PCs.
Thank you for your incredible work on this project!
Best regards,
