Hi everyone! I’ve been working on FydeOS Imager, a tool to help you choose a FydeOS image, download it and create a bootable USB drive. The community preview is now available to try, and I’d love to hear how it works for you.
What can it do?
- Help you choose an image: get a recommendation based on hardware information, or select an image manually for another device.
- Download an image: check its version, release date and release notes, with automatic verification after downloading.
- Create a bootable USB drive: use a newly downloaded image or an existing local file, with verification after writing. You can also download an image without writing it to a USB drive.
Downloads
Current version: 0.8.1 community preview.
Windows: Windows 10 / 11, x64. No installation required.
FydeOS-Imager-0.8.1-Windows-x64-portable-internal-QA-self-signed.exe (5.7 MB)
macOS: macOS 13 or later, for Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. Extract the ZIP and open FydeOS Imager.app.
FydeOS-Imager-0.8.1-macOS-universal-internal-QA.zip (1.6 MB)
Before you begin
Writing an image will erase all data on the selected USB drive or external disk. Back up anything important and double-check the selected drive.
This is a community preview. Hardware recommendations are a starting point, not a compatibility guarantee. Try booting from the USB drive and check the display, network and audio before installing FydeOS on your computer.
The Windows build uses a self-signed test certificate, and the macOS build has not been notarised by Apple. Your system may warn about or block the app. Please report this rather than disabling your system’s security protections.
Running Imager on an Apple Silicon Mac lets you prepare a USB drive for another compatible device; it does not mean FydeOS can be installed on that Mac. The tool is also not intended for creating bootable media from standard Windows installer ISOs.

Please reply here with any problems or suggestions, including steps that felt unclear. It helps to include the Imager version, operating system, device model, steps to reproduce and a screenshot. For USB-related issues, please also include the drive’s brand and capacity.
Please do not post complete logs containing personal information. Thanks for giving it a try. Your feedback will help shape the next version.
