I am using FydeOS 17,1 on a Macbook Pro 12,1 (a1502) and it is working quite fine.
I only have an annoying problem with the Wifi. The Wifi networks available are all shown but I am unable to join / connect to any of the networks.
The wifi network card of this Macbook Pro is a Broadcom 4360 (Network controller: Broadcom Inc. and subsidiaries BCM43602 802.11ac Wireless LAN SoC (rev 01))
I’m following up on this since I ran into similar issues I wasn’t able to resolve – specifically, no networks were available via Wi-Fi.
That seems true from my testing, we’re dealing with closed source drivers, but it’s another dead end trying to figure out how to make things work.
I triple-booted some test Macs, so I could use Ubuntu (via Zorin OS) on a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and found this Ask Ubuntu comment is line to get things working:
The Macs I tested (MacBookAir7,2 and MacBookPro11,1) both rely on the 14e4:43a0 rev 03 PCI ID found in that Broadcom wireless table. In Zorin I could install the appropriate additional driver (i.e., “Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source from bcmwl-kernel-source”) from the Software & Updates app, but there’s no similar path in FydeOS unless I’m missing something. (Also, even in crosh the OS doesn’t provide any of these tools like lspci or apt.)
