FydeOS - Gentoo. Install on BTRFS LUKS

Since fydeOS is basically gentoo couldn’t you add luks and btrfs support to kernel with initramfs for disk encryption and then boot to an encryped luks container as its the kernel that prompts for encryption key password?

Chromeos has not been gentoo based for a long time. So fydeos is not basically gentoo.

it’s basically gentoo, their build system is even emerge, a linux kernel is a linux kernel. I mean that’s their dev environment. Basically. If I can build and install btrfs kernel support and luks and btrfs support in the initramfs it should work. The question is howwwwwww.

If it is gentoo, you should know how.

You said fydeos is gentoo, so how you can do it in gentoo, just do the same on fydeos.

Google use gentoo’s package manager to build chromeos, but it does not mean chromeos is basically gentoo, it’s totally different. Mind your language and ask ChatGPT if you don’t understand it. It’s a new era. Don’t jump into conclusions and try new tools.

How does the rootfs mount? Typically I would point the btrfs subvolume but it had a containerized image. So i would enable luks and btrfs and do the luks stuff via grub and point root_vol/@btrfssubvol and then it should detect the image file is how i would do it.

FYDE OS works on legacy ext2 file system. Install on better quality file in no possible

F2FS is most innovative file system with specialization for SSD on PCs, or laptops. A lot of linux distributions support F2FS
